Perfect Audio Levels for Podcasts and Video (Any Editing System!)
Don't forget this step when processing your podcast and video audio...leveling all audio tracks so that you have a volume balanced mix. And it's as easy and drag and drop, regardless of what editing system you use!
You don't have to know any audio processing techniques (compression, normalization, etc.) in order to get a perfectly level audio mix each time. And on top of that, your audio, once processed, will always be the same loudness from one production to the next.
The answer, Auphonic.com. I use Auphonic for all my audio productions to make sure the level of my audio within each audio track is consistent. This means your audience can set a volume that is comfortable to listen to and ...

    Hi Ray, are the features of the MOTIV Mix application available to original MV7s as well? I got prompted to switch over from ShurePlus MOTIV and downloaded, but I only have access to the basic gain/tone settings (no denoiser, popper stopper, etc).

      @RayOrtega День назад

      The newest features of the MV7+ are actually inside the mic., which is very cool because you can set them and then take the mic., anywhere and have the same setup without needing the app. The downside would be that those features don't apply to the older mic.

      Thanks, I was really happy with how it sounded on my voice as well and this is helpful feedback because I often tell people that you never know if a mic is good for you until you hear it on your voice cause the same mic can be very different on different voices. Each mic will accentuate a different part of the frequency range or even a mic that is fairly flat will be different for someone who has a hi or low voice. Another issue is processing. Depending on how someone else processed their audio (EQ, compression, etc) that can drastically change how the mic sounds.

    • @RayOrtega
      @RayOrtega 6 дней назад

      Thanks! You can record your audio in the Motiv App and then you'd have to sync that with your video in post but you could also record video into an app and then use this mic as the audio source. But as an example, I used the Motiv app to record a lot of the audio you hear in this video until I had to switch software (see 13:25) in order to demo some stuff in the Motiv app. So it's not a big deal to record in one app and sync the audio in post. Hope that's helpful!

    Hello. I am interested in PodTrak P4. I want to ask you some things before purchasing. 1) My main setup is just one microphone and use the audio from my computer, so i will use the audio interface feature. I read that is not quaranteed that it will work with AMD processors. Will it work with mine processor? See attachment please. 2) As i am not a professional podcaster, i need the recorded file to be saved as an ''One File Recording''. I read that chanels are recorded separately and need editing after in order to create the final mix. Can't they also be recorded as ''One File'', without needing editing afterwards? Thank you. Stavros Tzathas. Athens, Greece.

    • @RayOrtega
      @RayOrtega 5 дней назад

      Unfortunately I have no idea about the issue with AMD processors so I can't say if it will work with yours or not but just make sure wherever you buy it from, you can return it. As for files, one of the files that is recorded is a stereo mix so it will have everything on one track and you can use that for your podcast but also since you are using this as an audio interface, you can just use the track that you record into your computer. Either way, in most cases, you will still have to do some processing to get the file from a .wav file into an .mp3 for podcast delivery but that is easy enough.

I think it would be perfect on a gimbal, gives you a wide angle and some zoom and it's also a constant aperture at 2.8 which allows lower light filming through the entire range of the zoom. If you're on a Sony like I am, you probably have Clear Image Zoom which will also provide additional, clean zoom when you need to reach beyond 50mm.

      The burlap is definitely more breathable than others, if I did this again, I would use the same fabric that I used on back (the weed barrier) just to ensure that none of the fibers come out of the front. I've had these panels in my office for years now, I don't know anything coming out of them, they don't move but again, if it's a concern and you want to be more certain, I would use a layer of something less porous.

    @Ray Do you know if it is possible to run an Elgato stream deck through a mixer if I were to use a usb-c to 3.5mm cable from the stream deck to the line in on the mixer? Basically in place of your iPhone used in the video.... I'm just curious about this as I don't know if it will function as the stream deck might need the software in order to function which would require having the usb directly into the computer as opposed to the mixer. Hope this makes sense.

    • @RayOrtega
      @RayOrtega 23 дня назад

      You are right about the software being required. If you stop the software on your computer, it will tell you that the Stream Deck will not do anything. Essentially it's not a device that holds any music, clips or anything in it, it's just a controller that activates that stuff on your computer. You could however, just plug the output of your computer into the mixer and then your Stream Deck could be used to trigger any sounds you wanted.

    • @TrickshooterTV
      @TrickshooterTV 22 дня назад

      @@RayOrtega Actually Ray seeing as il be using the mix minus setup, technically the streamdeck sound signals will be sent through the mixer anyway no? Sorry for all the questions dude.

    • @RayOrtega
      @RayOrtega 22 дня назад

      @@TrickshooterTV no problem and now that I think about it more, it gets real tricky when you are trying to play computer sounds back through a mix-minus. The computer sounds will only play in the main mix which you don't want to send via mix-minus because the whole point is to not send SOME of the main. mix, you want to send some audio minus others. The main mix sends ALL audio. So typically what we have done is to use an iPhone, tablet or other computer to bring sounds into a channel on the mixer and then send that specific channel out of the mix-minus (aux) channel. With the Stream Deck, it will trigger sounds to play on the computer but those do not go into a specific channel on the mixer, they go to the main mix and this is why you need to bring the sounds in via another device. It all gets really confusing so I understand you asking followup questions! ;) Maybe the main question is why are you using a mix-minus? If you are bringing in another computer, your gaming computer is different than your streaming computer, then you'd want to put the sounds on the gaming computer and send those to the mixer on the streaming computer. I'm not really sure what your setup is so what I'm saying might not fit exactly with what you're doing but hopefully that's helpful.

    dont know why but my Mic is recording way to much noise like when im breating or something and when i move it away it sounds like im in an Hallway or something any advice ?

    • @RayOrtega
      @RayOrtega 25 дней назад

      A couple different things to check. If you're getting too much noise and breath, it sounds like maybe your gain settings are set wrong. Are you using the auto function? If yes, try manual, if using manual, try auto. There may also be too much compression which could be bringing up the noise floor. Try without compression and also try with the noise reduction on. If it sounds like you're in a hallway, make sure the reverb is turned off. If it's already off then you're likely recording in a space that has too much reverb/echo and need to be somewhere else and/or you need to stay close to the mic.

    But as always it is an aggressive pushed maxed out sound. What about life like audio? No compression of loudness at all. Pure reproduction. Great demo. But boring. More of the same. Insta-content.

      @RayOrtega 29 дней назад

      Thanks for watching. What you hear in this video is pretty true to the mic. The level was only raised so that it's consumable here on youtube but definitely no limiting or heavy compression. Bringing up the audio has no effect on the native sound of the mic, if anything it also lets you hear if there are any noise floor issues. I used no EQ aka the flat option and did use noise reduction that the mic supplies because that is how I would use it and it's a built in feature of the mic.

      @@RayOrtega Good information, then what we hear is the processing that the microphone system applies. Yes noise reduction was strong. The noise gate cuts start and end of most words. To me it also sucks the lift out of the sound as well. All nuances and textures of a voice, meaning the fidelity, are also gone. Just a note. Røde have a similar problem. Damage control on their system is to set it at -21 och -24dB and gain in the camera instead. Then it is sort of usable.

    • @RayOrtega
      @RayOrtega 28 дней назад

      @@danielenstrom1873 Yes, any processing is native unless I note it, which I sometimes do my own processing later in the video as a demonstration/comparison.

    this mic need an extra anti pop filter ?

    • @RayOrtega
      @RayOrtega Месяц назад

      I’d say no. Of course pops depend on the person who is speaking. Every one has a different level of plosive that they produce but this version has given extra room between the windscreen and the capsule which helps more than it did on the first version. It also depends on mic placement. If your plosives are heavy you’ll want to speak into the mic off axis at more of an angle.

    Hi! Nice vid! I am a noob who learns fast. I skipped first-grade 😮. Problem is, I go straight to the end of the book because I want to solve the problem. I live in a noisy apartment. I have a U87 condenser for recording vocals. I can’t use that for RUclips content I wanted something a tad better than my iPhone and I discovered a lot of people loving dji Osmo pocket 3. It has a wireless mic that sounds pretty good. Those mics that clip on are tacky. I’m like you in tacky department. I might put a piece of black electrical tape over the Sure thing if I buy this mic. So I see a lot of good things. I was going to drop $500 on the SM7B with installed pre-amp. I play and record music and it is like a fav for dynamics . So noise is something I need to address and it looks good on camera. The thing about the MV7 is I could use it directly into the camera anywhere and if I am playing guitar at the beach with my friend singing it seems a lot more practical than the dji wireless 🛜 . But - if I fear for recording vocals in my studio I may find myself wishing I just dropped the $500 on the SMB759879 - I am getting all these numbers mixed up 🆙 So that is me. I want to solve the end before I shoot my first video. Possibly because I am prone to buyers remorse. I don’t really know anything! I might find the dji wireless will be just fine for my first 59 videos because no one will see them anyway. There goes the broken AC sitting on my top floor apartment. Had I known it was going to be like this I would have paid more attention to money when I was younger and bought a house It’s July in Los Angeles! Tell me I’m crazy 🤪

    Are there special cables that allow you to push the 1/4 all the way in the insert so it will not be a short and work like all channels because at times the channel does get cancelled by putting it half way and I don't have time to check the tracks to see if they are working.

    • @RayOrtega
      @RayOrtega 9 дней назад

      It's a good question and I'm not sure but my guess is that way is occurring, what is making this possible is the jack itself more than it is the cable.

      Going from the Yeti to the MV7+ will be a big improvement in noise isolation. Contenders (Yeti) definitely sound different than dynamics (MV7) so it might take getting used to but it's a good move. Thanks for watching and subbing!
